Try Masking To Make A Fun Border

I was inspired to make my own border for this card project after seeing this great print from the Unbounded Beauty DSP. I decided to use my Stampin’ Up! Masking Paper and trimmed a sheet into (4) 1/4″ strips. This made for easy removal of the strips once I was done with adding color to the card front layer.

I used the sentiment image and the ‘double’ die from the Unbounded Love bundle. I cropped this die twice – once with Petunia Pop card stock and the other with Basic White card stock. I love how it literally crops two die cuts with one run through of the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, so you can switch out the card stock to make a dual colored tag.

I also cropped out one small stand-alone die for added interest popping out of the sentiment tag.

I DID a quick 60+ Second Video as an Instagram Reel where you can get the jest of the process. You can check it out by going directly to YouTube. I am not able to include the video in my blog posts because there was music in the background that is restricted when received in a email.

In the video, I widened my border by using 1/2″ strips of Masking Paper instead of 1/4″ and I think I like the wider border better. But you can see for yourself!

Here are the quick measurements for this project:

Basic White (Thick) CS: 11″ x 4 1/4″ and scored at 5 1/2″
Petunia Pop CS: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
DSP: 5 1/4″ x 4″
Basic White CS: 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″
DSP: 4 1/2″ x 1 1/4″
