Hooray For A Happy Birthday Surprise!

Welcome to another project in this NEW PRODUCT SHOWCASE – HOORAY FOR SURPRISES BUNDLE from the new JAN – APR ’24 MINI CATALOG!

I am having so much fun with this HOORAY FOR SURPRISES BUNDLE. The biggest SURPRISE with this bundle are the dies, which make these fun little tear-away elements so that the sentiment can be hidden until the recipient ‘pulls’ or ‘opens here’ for the big reveal!

I am also loving the sentiments and images included… all of them can definitely be used for several special occasions… all year round!

I did borrow this beautiful designer series paper from the Perennial Lavender Suite with the DSP of the same name. It is so beautiful and I can’t wait to get into this bundle next week.

You can see the step-by-step below, but I just wanted to give you a tip about using the dies with the perforated edges. For today’s project, I used a DSP panel for the perforated circle with the ‘pull’ tab. I would recommend (and I will do this next time, for sure) that you back it up with a card stock layer. It just gives the perforated section more weight and it will keep the circle from pulling away too easily.

Here are the measurements for this project:

Basic White (Thick) CS: 11″ x 4 1/4″ and scored at 5 1/2″
Highland Heather CS: 5 1/4″ x 4″, 5″ x 3 1/8″
Perennial Lavender DSP: 5″ x 3 3/4″, 5″ x 3″
Basic White CS: 5″ x 3 1/8″ (x3), 2 7/8″ x 1/2″

Here is the step-by-step for this project:

Trim all layers as noted above
Adhere the larger DSP layer to the larger card stock layer and adhere to card base
Stamp the large flower in Highland Heather ink onto Basic White card stock and crop with die
Crop a few sprigs and leaves from Basic White card stock
Stamp the sentiment in Highland Heather ink onto the trimmed Basic White card stock
Stamp the ‘pull’ sentiment on a scrap of Basic White and trim close to letters
Die cut both the (5″ x 3 1/8″) DSP and two of the 5″ x 3 1/8″ Basic White layers (at the same time) with the perforated circle die (this is to double up on the perforated edges to give it more weight – as per my tip above)
Adhere the die cut DSP layer to one of the Basic White die cut layers
Using the other die cut (5″ x 3 1/8″) Basic White layer as a template, remove the center of the perforated circle and place it over the third trimmed Basic White layer
Stamp the sentiment in the negative space in Highland Heather ink
Adhere the stamped layer to the back side of the perforated layers
Adhere all three layers to the trimmed Highland Heather card stock and then to the card front
Adhere the flowers/sprigs die cuts to the center of the perforated circle with a dimensional
Adhere the ‘pull’ sentiment over the notched edge
Adhere the full sentiment tag to the bottom portion of the card front
Add a few Purple Fine Shimmer Gems to the card front
