Today’s post is all about the new and fantastic Embossing Folders that are available from the new July – December Mini (Holiday) Catalog! I had so much fun playing with each of them… but you will surely figure out which is my favorite by the end of this post! :-)!
I do have a short video at the end of this post if you would like to see these folders in action!
This first one is called Merriest Melody 3D Embossing Folder (pg. 42) and it is just beautiful. For this project, I used a sheet from the new Brushed Metallic Cardstock (also from the new catty, shown on page 32) for the focal image. The background layer was embossed with another folder called the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder…but more on that later! This embossed image will clearly be a show-stopper on your holiday cards.
This next project used the Star Crossed Embossing Folder. It’s not 3D, but it makes an adorable double faceted design with both check and star raised images. I have both designs on one panel, but you could definitely slice it diagonally for two separate layers. I used the Gingerbread & Peppermint 6″ x 6″ DSP (pg. 9) for both the background layer and also to crop the snowflake images. I used the Gingerbread Dies to do the cropping!
This embossing folder is just fabulous also! It is called the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder (pg. 55). As you can see here with this project, very little is needed to add to the classic but simple background. For this project, I actually inked up the folder before running it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I used one of my Blending Brushes to gently cover the inside (top) side of the folder with So Saffron ink. I love how this one came out!
Last, but not least is this beauty! It’s called the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder! (pg. 43) There are a few reasons why I love this folder so much. First, it is included in the Merriest Moments Bundle… along with the stamp set and dies! Second, the dies and the folder are made to fit perfectly within each other. I was so impressed with this bundle, I did a whole video and blog post on it with countless project samples! You can check it out here if would like!
For the project above, I cropped the intricate die (from our new Silver Foil Specialty Cardstock) and then embossed it with the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder before mounting it over the large solid image to make it pop! For the project below, I cropped and embossed the intricate die and then mounted it over a full embossed layer of Basic White for the perfect backdrop!
I’m sure you guessed which my favorite new embossing folder is… Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder!
Here is the YouTube Video if you want to see the step-by-step!
