This card was born after I did a technique class and had several scraps from demonstrating different watercolor techniques. These scraps made for some pretty awesome cards, I must say!
I used the Sailing Home stamp set for the sailboat image and the Healing Hugs stamp set for the sentiment. The background wash was done with our new Pigment Sprinkles on Shimmery Paper.
The reason I love using these little crystals in lieu of the Brusho Crystals is because of the color. These Pigment Sprinkles come in exact Stampin’ Up! colors! (Although they don’t really look like the color you can expect while in the jar), trust me… they will coordinate perfectly with your card stock!
I used Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green for this background. I simply dotted the Shimmery Paper with a very little amount of each color sprinkles and then just used a few squirts from my spritzer to dissolve the crystals. So easy and the results will surprise and delight you every single time.
For the focal image, I used a bleaching technique. This is another very simple technique you can use to take the background color away from an image. I used my Aqua Painter to grab some ink from the Bermuda Bay ink pad case and spread a light color wash on a scrap of watercolor paper. I stamped the image in Stazon Black ink and then (with a fine paintbrush) removed the color from the sailboat with some light strokes of bleach.
I cropped the sentiment out with the Timeless Label Punch.
I you haven’t tried these Pigment Sprinkles yet, I highly recommend them for some fun and beautiful results!
