This get well card is from the beautiful stamp set called Thoughts and Prayers. I cannot tell you how many times I have reached for this set when I have needed a comforting card to send a loved one.

This particular card was one of my first attempts at using the ‘baby wipe’ background technique. I can’t say I love the way it turned out…. but I had to start somewhere and each time I use this technique, I like it more and more!  🙂

The technique is super simple – just dab on ink color with a scrunched up baby wipe on  a piece of watercolor paper. In this case, I added some texture stamps to some of the layers before moving on to the next area. You can always use a clean wipe for a more subtle effect if you want. The inks I used for this background were Sahara Sand, Smokey Slate and Soft Suede.

I stamped the large tree image in Smokey Slate and cut an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to stamp the Get Well sentiment front and center. The Gold Gem was a nice touch to coordinate with the Soft Suede ink in the background.

The card is a 5″ x 5″ square in Smokey Slate and the first Whisper White layer is 4- 3/4″ x 4-3/4″. The Smokey Slate layer that runs through the center was a scrap piece, so any size would be fine here. The watercolor layer is 4-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ and cut into thirds (and my math was a little off here)  🙂  Well, that was it!
