Vertical Greetings Happy Birthday

This card is another take on a ‘baby wipe’ background technique that I did which incorporated a few stamp sets that carried over from last year’s catalog, along with a new one from the 2017-2018 annual catalog.

The stamp sets that I used are – Vertical Greetings, Happy Birthday Gorgeous and Timeless Textures. The baby wipe technique is so cool and let’s you create a background with the actual ink colors you are already using for the stamping and the card stock – it’s a win win!

The baby wipe technique is super simple… just scrunch up a fragrance free wipe and dab it onto your ink pad and then dab/pounce it onto a piece of watercolor paper. Keep going until you get your desired effect. Then, stamp off with a few different stamps from the Timeless Textures set randomly around the paper using the same ink. To soften the effect, dab with a clean wipe if necessary.

The colors I used were Soft Sky and Smokey Slate. After stamping the focal image in Smokey Slate, I used my Soft Sky Write On Marker and colored in the leaves and container lines. I ran a strip of silver satin ribbon through the center of the card and looped a few strands of Silver Metallic Thread (it’s a little hard to see in the picture) under the happy birthday sentiment from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.
