I decided to step out of the box a little today with a completely different sized card! I started with an 8 x 8 Whisper White card stock and scored it at 4″. It is definitely different….and I’m really happy with how it turned out! In case you are wondering…there is no problem making an envelope to fit this custom size. I used the envelope punch board, and with just a tiny adjustment, that too, came out really nice!
I simply layered a piece of paper from the ‘Carried Away’ DSP. It was a simple print in the Watermelon Wonder color. After that, I used the new Celebrations Duo Embossing Folder (this one is so cool because it actually de-bosses, instead of embossing). I used a stamp from the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set and inked it with Archival Black ink (so that I could add watercolor to it later). I used one of the square Stitched Shapes Framelits and sent the birthday cake image through the Big Shot.
I dipped my aqua brush (water pen) into some of the Watermelon Wonder ink and colored in some of the icing on the cake. I then brushed over the embossed image with the same water pen to highlight the embossing. I added some black and white twine to the lower part of the front of the card and a few tiny gems to the candle flames on the cake.
I added the embossed layer with adhesive and then the stitched square layer with some dimensionals and it was done! Trying something different is always a good thing!
